IPA summer release 2014

Published Date: June 30, 2014: IPA┬« is a powerful web-based knowledge base system designed for biologists.

With the IPA Summer Release you can explore how endpoints of Canonical Pathways may be increased or decreased based on activation or inhibition of molecules within that pathway.

Canonical Pathways in IPA have historically displayed disease and functional endpoints as ÔÇ£text boxesÔÇØ; now, these endpoints can be used to interactively visualize the directional impact the pathway exerts upon them.

In this release of IPA, diseases and functions on Canonical Pathways are interactive and can be used by the Molecule Activity Predictor (MAP) to simulate the effect on disease or function.

Content Updates

~75000+ new findings (total of ~5.1 million findings), including:

  • ~41000 new Expert Findings (publications)
  • ~12000 new ExpertAssist Findings (publications)
  • ~6000 new protein-protein interactions from BioGRID
  • ~1700 new disease target findings from ClinicalTrials.gov
  • ~12000 new mutation-to-disease findings from ClinVar
  • ~2000 new gene-to-biological process assertions from Gene Ontology (GO)
  • ~1100 new protein binding findings from IntAct
  • ~1200 new mouse knockout-to-phenotype findings from the Mouse Genome Database (JAX Labs)
  • ~800 new gene to disease findings from OMIM

This implies that previously saved analyses might now be outdated.
